How this coffee roaster works

Caffe Rosto - how it works

Caffe Rosto uses a "fluid air bed" roasting system which allows constant rotation of the coffee beans as it roasts, and when it cools

This coffee roaster heats the coffee beans to the correct temperature using an internal thermometer to regulate the heat. The unit will automatically cool the beans once they are roasted.

Caffe Rosto is the only home coffee roaster to recycle the hot air throughout the roasting chamber, enabling the coffee to roast more evenly and have better flavor.

You control the darkness of the roast by simply setting the timer for the desired roasting time.

You received a stainless cup with the Rosto. We have found that this measure should initially be filled to level. If it is roasting hot, cut back 10-15%. Greater quantities of beans slow the agitation, but can still achieve an even roast. It may also send coffee into the chaff collector during the later part of the roast cycle; this will help block some airflow helping to achieve a darker roast.

Instructions on using your Caffe Rosto:

  • Remove the glass top and add a level scoop , (1 cup) of coffee.
  • Set the timer to 7 the first time to see how it roasts. With a fluid bed roaster, like the Caffe Rosto, the more coffee you roast, the hotter it gets. I find a heaping cup is the most you should roast.
  • When done, remove the chaff collector and dump the beans into a canning jar or cool and keep in a zip lock bag.
  • Vacuum or brush out the chaff collector and the area under the chaff collector.
  • Yields about 15- 20 cups of coffee per batch.

Guide for roasting beens with Caffe Rosto

Caffe Rosto - Roasting Guide

If the bean color is too light after the pre-set time is up, you may wish to add 1~2 minutes before the cooling cycle begins. The cooling cycle begins when the timer reaches zero (0).

If desired bean color is achieved prior to the pre-set time elapsing, turn the timer to 0 and allow the cooling process to begin.

IMPORTANT

Roasting can vary depending on the voltage of your electrical outlet.
